Points to ponder…

As we prepare for the holiday weekend and a new year, I am experiencing a place of quiet as I reflect on many things.  I don’t make resolutions for the new year, but I do like to take inventory and meditate on the condition of my heart. As I think of all I need let go of and leave behind in order to embrace a new chapter, I have been doing quite a bit of pondering.

People are paying close attention to the unspoken, even on a subconscious level. We cannot turn the volume down on our actions…

1 John 3:18

Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.


Our words matter so much they have the power of unity or division…

Proverbs 18:21

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.


When we have exhausted all efforts to reach out to someone or maintain a connection, we have permission to let go…

If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.


Hope, faith, and love wield the most power when circumstances seem hopeless.

  1. Good time of year for pondering as this year ends and a new one begins. As I read this post, I am reminded of a song we would teach the kids at summer camp. It had a verse: ” and they will know we are Christians by our love.” I haven’t thought much yet about resolutions, but sharing more of God’s love seems like a good place to begin! Thank you for sharing your walk of faith and the supportive scriptures!

    1. So glad you felt inspired. I feel like this is the season to truly let go of some things that have been like weights. It is easier said than done. Somehow, I ran into all of these quotes and I stopped to pay attention and ponder. Glad you were inspired, too! 🙂
